Haggler’s Corner presents…
Why not try your hand at soutache?
Soutache the name for any number of types of braided cord used traditionally to make military finery on jackets and hats. It is an artistic technique that can be applied directly to a garment or used to make free-standing ornaments to be sewn on later.
During this creative session, you will learn to make ornamental closures or sleeve decorations. You will take way the techniques to be able to cover an entire jacket in the stuff, if you’ve got the patience. The results are fabulous.
During the session, our expert tutor Grace will teach you techniques to both directly apply to clothes and to create freestanding pieces. We will aim to finish two small pieces during the session. These will be suitable for appliquéing onto a garment if you wish, such as the one pictured.
